Nellie McKay wanted to do a show about Joan Rivers

Nellie McKay is a huge Joan Rivers fan and wanted to do a cabaret show about her. Things did not quite go the way the anticipated, and I was there to watch the whole thing unfurl. My New York Times story is here.
